Client is usually done rather badly. When well implemented it
can solve the SOE problem and provide a very high level of user support
with much lower costs than any other alternatives. Of course many organisations
use Thin Client and use PCs as the client devices.
There are some benefits to this approach but often a combination of end
user devices is optimal. Citrix is the traditional Thin Client platform
but using Microsoft terminal services with Dynamic load balancing across
multiple servers can also be a cost effective solution.
